Carl Joseph Armand, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on February 3, 2025 at the age of 83, in Beaumont, Texas. He was well-known in his church and community as a generous man who enjoyed a good laugh. He was born on December 3, 1941, in Bordelonville, Louisiana.
He suffered a stroke, but was surrounded by his family for a loving farewell. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Armand; his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Michele Armand, residing in Friendswood, Texas, and their two children Amos Armand and Aidan Armand; as well as his daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Jake Royer, residing in Princeton, Texas. He is also survived by his brother, Walter Paul Armand. Carl took great pride in being a father and grandfather, encouraging his children and grandchildren to follow their passions.
Carl retired from Motiva after working for 35 years in the oil and gas industry. (The company had several name changes over the years, including Texaco and Star Enterprise, but his management style never changed.) As a retiree, he loved upcycling and tinkering, often finding furniture and refinishing it. He had a birdhouse phase, creating beautiful decorative creations from vintage doorknobs and salvaged building materials.
Carl was a proud 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus #5145, where he served his community and embodied the virtues of charity and fellowship. His 6 years in the U.S. Army, National Guard instilled in him the values of duty and honor, which he carried throughout his life.
When Carl and Linda first met, they were in high school. From the beginning, they both loved dancing and music. Carl was even in a band for several years, and loved to sit in with local musicians such as Cookie and the Cupcakes and Dave Shaw, and bands appearing at venues such as the Winnie Rice Festival and Larry’s Cajun Market. (Now Larry’s and Rita’s.) He last sang his favorite song,“Matilda” in 2019.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Louise Armand, who shaped the man he became. Carl Joseph Armand’s life will be celebrated with great reverence. The rosary will be held on February 10, 2025 at 5:00 PM, followed by Visitation starting at 5:30 PM, both taking place at the Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. A Funeral Service will be conducted the following day, February 11, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with a graveside service following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Carl leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will resonate through the hearts of his friends and family for generations to come.
