Carmella Elvira Gesser, 68, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas with her loving family at her side.

Carmella was born on March 29, 1954, in Rochester, New York to Lois McCarty Profetta and Charles Profetta. She had lived in the Nederland area for over thirty years and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. Carmella was a retired medical clerk for various doctors’ offices in the area and also worked as a front desk clerk with local hotels most recently with the Best Western Airport Hotel in Nederland. She loved plants and many considered her to have a “green thumb”. She and her daughter would go to different places and buy plants that were about to die and she would revive them and bring them back to life. Carmella was a “people person” who loved talking and getting to know anyone who came into her life. She also loved animals and they loved her too. Carmella seemed to bring out the best in people, animals and even plants, she was that type of person. She will be missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Carmella is survived by her husband of thirty-four years, Todd Gesser of Nederland; daughter, Leah Botello and her husband Sean of Nederland; brother, Vito Profetta of Lumberton; her nephew, Michael Profetta of Columbus, Ohio and her best friend for over fifty years, T.C. Crawford of Rochester, New York.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lois Profetta; her brother Rudy Profetta and her twin sister, Gina Profetta.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service to Honor the Memory of Carmella Elvira Gesser will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private cremation services will be held at a later date.
