Carmen Orta Piña, 84, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away peacefully at her residence in Port Arthur with her loving family at her side.
Carmen was born on July 16, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas to Anna Maria Collazo Orta and Domingo Orta. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur and was a retired teacher’s aid for Franklin Elementary School in Port Arthur for fifteen years.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary C. Flores of Pembroke Pines, Florida; son, Alfonso M. Piña of Ridgecrest, California; brother, Joe Orta of Nederland; two grandchildren; Nathalie Flores and Alessandro M. Piña; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members who loved her dearly. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents Domingo and Anna Maria Orta; brothers, Gonzalo Orta, Raul Orta, David Orta, Efrain Orta, Leonardo Orta and Ruben Orta.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with a Rosary to be recited at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur, Texas.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Gustavo Orta, Fermin Mojica, Richard Orta, Gabriel Orta, Christopher Varela and David Orta, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Manuel Orta and Johnny Orta.
