Evelyn Carolyn Berry, 80, of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her residence. Born on July 8, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas, Carolyn led a life marked by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family and community.

A proud graduate of Nederland High School, Carolyn devoted many years of her life to childcare, nurturing and shaping the lives of countless children. Her passionate heart extended beyond her career, as she was deeply involved in her faith community. As a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church, she dedicated time to serving in the church nursery and assisting with the food pantry, embodying the spirit of generosity central to her Christian beliefs.

Carolyn was not only passionate about her work and her faith; she also embraced her hobbies with equal enthusiasm. She delighted in baking cakes, cherishing the tradition of making ‘trash’ each Christmas, a task that surely brought joy to her loved ones. Her love for country music and all things angelic filled her home with warmth and light, characteristics that those who knew her will forever treasure.

Carolyn’s proudest accomplishments included her devotion to her family and her commitment to helping others. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Gayle Landry and her husband Kevin Troy Landry. She was a loving grandmother to Brandon Troy Landry and his wife Ashlea, and Hannah Gayle Raines and her husband Garrett. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Case Landry, Emma Landry, and Easton Raines. Carolyn is also survived by her brother, Denton Wade Sanders, and his wife Kaye; niece, Kacie Sanders and nephew, Jake Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Evelyn (Griffith) Sanders and Carl Denton Sanders, and her spouse, Charles Edward Berry. The love and guidance she provided will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Sandra Collins, Geneiva Johnson, Tynee Green, Fatima Jimenez, and Patricia Bande for the love and support they provided Carolyn and her family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, both taking place at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas, 77627. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Carolyn Berry's spirit lives on through the lives she touched and the memories she created. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, her faith, and her unwavering love for her family and community.
