Carolyn Cecil Goodwin Stefflen, affectionately known as “Bobbie”, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Monday, June 27, 2022.
Bobbie made her grand entrance into the world on December 25, 1932, Christmas Day, to Laura E. Aycock Goodwin and Basil D. Goodwin of Port Neches, Texas. She was a graduate of Nederland High School and continued her education at Port Arthur Business College.
Later in life she received a letter from a rather shy neighbor, Ray Stefflen, in which she grew up with, and within six months she had a marriage proposal. They married and both felt a calling to ministry. They served together for 40 years with churches in Texas and Louisiana.
Bobbie is survived by her sister, Basil Dee Mooneyham, her children: Laura Hinojosa (Jonny), Myra Edwards (Emmett), and Paula Clemmons (Duane). Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Tracey Gross, Bryan Shackelford, Joshua Hinojosa, David Hartley, Lisa Duncan, Nolan Clemmons and Natalie Clemmons. Great- Grandchildren: Logan Shackelford, Hannah Shackelford, London Gross, Garrett Willever, Colton Willever, Ethan Johnson, Raiden Hinojosa, Lennox Hinojosa, Melody Hartley, Gabby Hartley, Brianna Hartley, Savannah Hartley, Ayleen Hartley, and David Hartley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Zoe Marie Hinton, her husband, Ray H. Stefflen, son, Thomas Kennedy, daughter, Kathy Richardson, and grandson, Army Ranger SSG Jeffery Hartley.
Bobbie was dearly loved by her church family, widows group, and prayer group of Glad Tidings Church of Lake Charles. Not that many years ago she was visiting the sick in the hospitals, working at Bargain World, leading Bible Studies and organizing outings for the widows. Serving as a door greeter was one of favorite spots to serve.
Her family remembers her most for her love of Jesus and her mighty courage and devotion to pray and teach wherever He led her. She is the toughest lady we know, having rebuilt her hurricane destroyed house nearly by herself. We will miss her encouragement, prayers, and energy!
The family wishes to thank her doctors and caregivers: Dr. Ronald Lewis and staff who cared for her like she was their mom, Dr. Gilmore and Laura Stawecki, Nurse Practitioner, who worked tirelessly to keep her heart working, and the nurses and staff of Christus Oshner St. Patrick Hospital & Hospice Care who cared for her these last few months.
