Carroll E. Pruitt, 88, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Port Arthur, Texas. Carroll was born on December 10, 1934 in Beaumont, Texas to the late, Edward Pruitt and Francis French Pruitt.
He is a cherished father and he lived a remarkable life and had a vibrant personality. He touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was exceptionally caring, and it seemed he never met a stranger, extending kindness and warmth to everyone he encountered. His love for the outdoors was evident through his passion for gardening, fishing, and hunting, where he found solace and joy. He was an exceptional husband and dad, always present for his children and grandchildren, cheering them on at every sporting event with unwavering support. He was a devoted member of Memorial Church of Christ and had a deep faith as a devoted Christian. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he found solace in his love for the Lord. Music and art were also close to his heart, as he expressed his creativity through drawing and enjoyed the beauty of melodies. His sense of humor and outgoing personality made every moment with him a joy, leaving a lasting legacy of laughter and love in everyone’s hearts.
Those left to cherish Carroll’s memory include his loving wife of 64 years, Wanda Pruitt; son, Chad Pruitt and his wife, Kimberly; daughter, Brenda Leatherwood and her husband, Chuck; sisters, Elaine Laird and Cecil Winn; and grandchildren, Travis and Brittany Leatherwood.
Carroll is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Pruitt and Francis French Pruitt; brothers, Gene and Wayne Pruitt and his sister, Melba Shane.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon~Levingston funeral home in Nederland, Texas on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery in Anacoco, Louisiana on Tuesday afternoon, October 31, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Jeff Trahan will officiate the service.
