I’m here today to talk about my cousin Chad — my first cousin, my friend, and someone who, if you knew him, you knew he was a whole vibe. Chad and I had a thing we did at just about every family function, we’d somehow end up sneaking off for what we called a “cousin walk.” It wasn’t formal, it wasn’t planned — but it was sacred. We’d wander, talk about life, shoot the breeze, talk trash, get deep, get weird with talks of space and the cosmos… and somehow always end up back at the table a little lighter. It was our way of checking in, away from the noise and the chaos — just two cousins trying to figure it all out. Those walks were our ritual. Just two slightly feral boys from southeast Texas trying to make sense of the chaos, life, and all the stuff in between. Now listen, Chad wasn’t perfect. But let’s be real — none of us are. He had his struggles, just like I’ve had mine. But what I admired most about him in these last years was how hard he fought to rise above all that. He found God. And when I say found, I mean really found. Not just the kind you mention on Christmas. He dug in. He started doing the hard, unglamorous work of healing, growing, and trying to walk the walk — not just talk it. And man, he was doing it. He was funny, he was stubborn, he was thoughtful, and sometimes wildly inappropriate in the best way. But he had a heart that got it. He felt things deeply. He saw people. And he made space for real conversations that didn’t have to be polished or pretty — just true. I’m going to miss those cousin walks something fierce and the way we could just be with each other without needing to pretend we had it all together. But most of all, I’m going to miss him — that messy, beautiful soul who was trying, every damn day, to do better and be better. Rest easy, Chad. You did good. And we’ll keep walking — just with one less smartass beside us.

God calls his Angels in his time. We often feel it is too soon, but no-one knows when that will be, except him . Rest easy, Chad.

David, Carolyn & Renee, Chad knew Jesus! Whenever we saw each other at family gatherings we would always talk about our faith! I pray you find comfort in KNOWING he is with our Lord and Savior NOW and will spend eternity in heaven in his presence, for this is PROMISED to all who believe and accept him as Lord! John 3:16
