Chantel Marie Duran, 23, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away in Vidor on Thursday, March 8, 2012. She was born in Beaumont to Carlos Duran and Elizabeth Ann Perricone on November 22, 1988 and lived most of her life in Nederland.Chantel was employed as a hostess at Patrick39s in Beaumont and was a member of the Catholic faith.She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Bridges of Port Arthur father, Carlos Duran of Palacios grandmother, Mary Duran of Palacios brother, Travis Bridges of Port Arthur and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Melancon39s Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, in Nederland with Father Anthony Paulose officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon39s Funeral Home on Monday, March 12, 2012, from 4:00 8:00 p.m. Additional services will be held in Palacios on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at St. Anthony39s Padua Catholic Church in Palacios, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon with funeral service at 12:00 noon. Internment will follow at Palacios Cemetery in Palacios.

Chantel Marie Duran, you always pronounced your name with pride. Your mother and i decided early on a boy child she would name and a girl child I would name. Im so happy that you as many others liked your name. You were so special from day one, the perfect child, you never cried and whined like most babies and always had a never ending smile and a contagious laughter about you. My heart aches at the thought of never having you to hold, you were a true Daddys Girl. I will cherrish every moment we ever spent together, I will live my days as God wishes and will look forward to the day i get to embrace your beautiful soul in his kingdom. I wish to thank all those that have been here for me and my family. Lord Heavenly Father take care of my Baby Gurl, keep her safe in your Kingdom, do not allow her to see me in times of sorrow.

Chantel you are gone too soon. You were a friend of my son, JT, a frequent visitor at our house, and he spoke of you with affection. Now you are both memories of the heart. For us left behind It is a hard journey ahead but looking back at your warm, carefree, and happy hearts can sustain us and help us remember how much of your lives you shared with us. Although I didnt get to know your daughter as well as I would have liked, I feel blessed and privileged for the opportunity I did get to work with and befriend her. She was unlike anyone else Id ever photographed before. Honest, open, funny...she was an amazing human being. Infectious almost to a fault. Its going to be impossible to forget her now. My prayer is that over time, despair will loosen its grip enough so that the smiles and laughter Chantel would have wanted for all of us, returns.
