Charles E. Cedars, 84, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. Charles was born April 28, 1929 in Port Arthur, Texas to Edgar Cedars and Mary Kaspar Cedars. He was a lifelong area resident and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He retired as a supervisor from Gulf/Chevron refinery and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was Past President of the Port Arthur Jaycees and member of Swinging Squares Club. Charles enjoyed traveling in his RV and his favorite things to do were being PePaw and spending time with his friends the "Saturday Night Group". Charles was preceded in death by his father and mother, and brother Lee Cedars. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Cedars of Groves; two daughters, Catherine Prosperie and husband Roy of Port Neches, Susan Cedars and partner Ashley of Houston; two sons, Michael Cedars and wife Myrna of Orange, Chuck Cedars and wife Gina of Round Rock; eight grandchildren, Melissa Taylor, Ryan Cedars, Tara King, Charlie Yeary, Cory Prosperie, Sherri Monroe, Shelby Cedars, Gavin Cedars; sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Monsignor Kenneth Greig officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
