Charles Francis Garner (Chuck), age 77 of Nederland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on October 8, 1944. Chuck served 5 yrs in the Texas National Guard and received recognition for Sharpshooter(rifle). After a break, he enlisted with the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Unit 4005 out of Houston and served for 8 yrs. as a Medical Technician.
He worked a total of 29 yrs for Southwestern Bell Telephone and then AT&T, first as a linemen and then as an installer of PBX systems for commercial business, until his retirement in 1996.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman and loved deer hunting, squirrel hunting, and Kayaking. He was always the life of the party at any family gathering or social event, always looking for an opportunity to make someone laugh with a joke or a funny story. He loved motorcycles and was a member for many years of the Corvette Club and enjoyed his Jeeps and 4x4 to ride around in the woods on.
Chuck was a devoted Husband to his wife Mona of 55 years. They loved going on ocean cruises and took a total of 9 cruises, including the Panama Canal. They were able to take a a trip to Europe and visit Mona’s birth place of Paris, France.
In recent years Chuck and Mona enjoyed going to social events with friends at the Port Neches Senior Center and to dances at the K.C. Hall in Port Acres.
Chuck was proceeded in death by his Adoptive Parents Johnny and Lessie Garner of Port Acres and Tommy Nolan of Port Arthur, his mother-in-law Suzanne East and his brother Glenn Lancaster of Corpus Christi.
Chuck is survived by his wife Mona, his brother Richard Fitzgerald and his wife Diana of Franklin, Louisiana, nephew Dicky Fitzgerald and wife Lisa of Jeanerette, Louisiana, niece Robin Fitzgerald Borne and husband Vincent of New Iberia, Louisiana, sister Linda Matlock and husband Steve of Houston, niece Katie Matlock Simpson and husband Mike of Houston, sister-in-law JoAnn Frasier and husband Barry of Lumberton, nephew Jason Frasier and wife Tina of Beaumont, brother- in-law Ted East and wife Gretchen of Beaumont, nephew Brandon East of Beaumont, and niece Stephanie East Gordon and husband Andrew of Denver, Colorado, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
