Charles Howard, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025.
Charles (“Chuck” to his friends and family) was born October 16, 1938, in Independence, Kansas, to Everrett Ernest Howard and Juanita Bell (nee Kenworthy) Howard.
Chuck is survived by his wife Ellen Howard (nee Barnhart) of Port Arthur, children Michelle Howard of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter Bethany Jacobs of Port Arthur, son Keil and spouse Belinda Jacobs of Rose Hill, Kansas; daughter Quindarrow Williams of Grand Prairie, Texas, daughter-in-law Stacy Jacobs of Spring, Texas; grandchildren David Jacobs, Brandon Jacobs, Everett Jacobs; Nicholas Williams, Madison Broadfoot, and Grace Jacobs; as well as great-grandchildren and extended family.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, sister Cora Jane Simmons, and son Charles Jacobs.
Chuck served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1977, both domestically and abroad. He moved to Port Arthur in 1986, where he became active in local car clubs. His interest and expertise in all things mechanical and his willingness to help others soon became well-known to everyone he met. He continued to pursue his hobby, working on pre-war automobiles, after his retirement from the Naval Reserve Fleet in Beaumont. Chuck’s dedication and commitment to his family and his community created a legacy that will endure. He will be missed.
In accordance with Chuck’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Southeast Texas Hospice, setxhospice.org.
