Charles Vestal Newman, 78, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Charles was born September 3, 1937 in Barnhart, Texas to Donovan Sam Newman and Eaver Stubblefield Newman. He was a resident of Port Neches for 47 years and retired after 40 years of service from Texaco Research as a lab technician. He was a member of the United Methodist Temple where he served as an usher and was also was a member of the choir and United Methodist Men's. Charles was a U. S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his son, Dean Vestal Newman. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sandra Riley Newman of Port Neches; daughter, Roxane Guest and her husband John of Conroe, TX; son, Charles "Chuck" Arthur Newman and his wife Kelly of Kingwood, TX; sister, Joy Binion and her husband James of San Angelo, TX; three brothers, Robert D. Newman of El Paso, TX, Sam E. Newman and his wife, Evelyn of Brownwood, TX, James A. "Jim" Newman and his wife Claire of Brownwood, TX; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Guy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
