Charles David Stewart

Charles David Stewart, 85, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1932 in Buna, TX to the late Ed S. Stewart and Nancy Glenn Stewart. Charles was in the United States Army Paratroopers and he fought in the Korean war. He worked at a refinery and then became the owner and operator of Stewart Automotive. His love and pastime was racing. He built go carts and dune buggies for his family. Charlie set a world record on a Harley Davidson motorcycle in the early 1960’s.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Foley and husband, Hector of Buna, TX; son, Charles D. Stewart, Jr. of Newton, TX; sister, Bobbie Medina of Nederland, TX; grandchildren, Tasha Nicole Tweedel of Arkansas, Brittany Leigh Foley of Silsbee and Jamie Marie Hernandez of Nederland; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Saylar, Amelie, Ladainian, Kingston, Anna Marie, Paris, Journey and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy; daughter, Lavada Jean Stewart; brothers, D. H. Lumpkin and Ed Stone Stewart; sisters, Beverly Tritico and Laprelle LeBlanc.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to start at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. The interment will follow at Broaddus Cemetery in San Augustine County, zip code 75929.

He will be missed and loved by all who knew him!
