Charles Gordon Thrasher, age 74, passed away on August 10, 2020 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Pamela Kay Temple Thrasher of Beaumont, one son, Christopher Charles Thrasher of Ripley, TN. and four grandchildren, Zachary, Sarah, Cadence, and Caroline Thrasher.
Charles was born on October 2, 1945 in Champaign, IL to Charlie Gordon and Zora Faye Thrasher. He grew up in Opelousas, LA and Lake Charles, LA. He graduated from McNeese University and worked as a research chemist for more than forty years. Charles developed and obtained multiple patents in his field.
His family knew Charles for his kind heart, great intelligence, and compassion toward others. He truly loved bowling, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, playing chess, and playing the piano. Charles played the piano for pure enjoyment and was the pianist at his church in Columbus, TX. He would often take long walks around his neighborhood, never meeting a stranger that he didn't love. Charles coached a t-ball team, and was also a Boy Scout leader for his son's troop. He even thought of himself as a mighty grill master, but his family might have thought differently. Charles had a love of Double-Stuffed Oreo cookies.
The Army selected him to serve proudly during the Vietnam War where he worked as a medic. Charles will truly be missed by his family.
