Charlotte Griffith Wallace

1957 ∼ 2025

Charlotte Griffith Wallace, a beloved Mom and Nana, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Nederland, Texas. Born on December 2, 1957, in Port Arthur, Texas, she brought joy and laughter to the lives of many throughout her remarkable life.

Charlotte dedicated 35 years as an Athletic Administrative Assistant at Nederland High School, where she was known for her unwavering commitment to the coaches and students alike. Her spirit, filled with humor and kindness, left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of working alongside her. A proud graduate of Nederland High School, she fostered a deep connection with her alma mater and played a significant role in shaping the experiences of countless friends and coworkers during her tenure.

A cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Nederland, Charlotte lived her life embodying her love for Christ, demonstrating loyalty, care and devotion to all those she loved. She found great joy in the simplicity of life, whether it was enjoying monthly dinners with her siblings, sharing moments at the beach with her girlfriends, or engaging in spirited games of bunco. Her loving nature extended to her cherished grandson, Landry, with whom she shared a bond that brightly illuminated both of their lives.

Charlotte is survived by her devoted daughter, Ashley Harrington and her husband, Eric, and her beloved son, Lance Wallace and her precious grandson, Landry Wright. She also leaves behind her dear brothers, Ross Griffith and his wife Anne, Randall Griffith and his wife, Jody, and Gary Griffith as well as many nieces and nephews. Adding to her family was her loyal fur pup of 13+ years, Ely, who brought her immense joy and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Willie and Lela Mae Griffith, who surely welcomed her into their embrace with open arms.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Charlotte's life at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.  A graveside service and interment will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas after the service.

The warmth of her spirit will continue to resonate through the lives she has touched, and her legacy of love and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Charlotte's family would like to give a special thank you to Maria Quintanilla and Patricia Logan, her generous and compassionate caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that any donations be made in honor of Charlotte to Grant’s Guardians or Southeast Texas Circle of Hope.

What a sweet and lovely person, inside and out. Her calm presence and sweet attitudes brightened every encounter and made one wish for more. I'm confident we'll see her again because of God's marvelous grace in which she believed and rested.

May the peace of God comfort the families. My sister Connie and I grew up down the street from Charlotte. Connie and Charlotte were classmates. My fondest memory is how all three of us would sit in the middle of the road or in the grass beside the road in the late evening and tell scary ghost stories until well after dark. Luckily for Charlotte she didn't have far to go to get home but Connie and I had to run scared all the way to our home down the road. Godspeed my friend!

Charlotte and I went to school together in Nederland. Though many years passed after our graduation, we reconnected again on Facebook. I still can still remember her infectious laugh from our school days. Her smile and forever joyful face will be remembered by all of us that were blessed to know her.

Charlotte was a beautiful lady in body and spirit. We attended church together many years ago. She had a lovely voice and any time she sang a special it was like watching someone give a gift of love and praise straight to her heavenly father. It was never showy but rather humble and sincere. Because of her faith in Jesus we know with a certainty that we will see her again in heaven. I look forward to singing with Charlotte again in God's heavenly choir.

Charlotte and I grew up together in the same neighborhood and went to school together from elementary through high school. We started subbing together for NISD the same day and we laughed about the circle of life and the way it led us back to school. I have never heard Charlotte say one ugly word about anybody. She had a smile that even the sunshine was jealous of. I still remember her long gorgeous hair when we were just children. She was always kind to everyone in school, even the people who were shunned by the majority. Her love for Christ was evident in everything she did, from family and friends, to strangers. Her presence on earth with be greatly missed, but her presence in Heaven can only make us anxious to join her there. Surely the angels are rejoicing at such a magnificent spirit among them today. Until we meet again sweet sister.

She was almost true friend, always asking how I was doing thru my cancer treatment. Was mine and many people go to person for help getting tickets for thirty years. She will be missed but never forgotten. RIP
