     Cheryl Kahclamat, 59 of Nederland, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024

     Cheryl was born July 27, 1964, to parents Rose and John C. Romero Sr. in Port Arthur, Texas, where she grew up. She moved around the state of Texas several times throughout her adult life, eventually settling in Nederland. Cheryl worked as a high school English teacher for many years in Port Arthur, as well as a substance abuse counselor and realtor for a short time.Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, as well as siblings, Julie Miller, Linda Romero and Clifford Romero.      She is survived by children, Kayla Kahclamat and Ian Kahclamat, siblings, Gary Romero, Mona Doyle, and John Romero Jr., and many nieces, nephews and aunts.     There will be a private memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20th at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.

I'm so shocked to learn of Cheryl's untimely passing. My condolences to her family and friends. We shared such fun times in summers out of school. She was always smart, kind and thoughtful.

Cheryl tutored English to me in 1980. I was in middle school and she was a smart high school student. I remember going to her house where we sat at her little bedroom desk and she helped me with my homework. Does not surprise me she grew up to be an English teacher. Rest in peace my dear tutor.

She was a wonderful sweet kind caring and always there for others. She was our Realtor and she found our house that we live in. She will be very much missed. I'm very shocked when I saw the post had to research to make sure it was her. This is so sad. Prayers and Praying for family and friends 🙏. We loved her so very much. She was such a blessing to everyone.

How can this be ? From kindergarten to High School ... then to the Bahamas ... then to Bob Hope ... We might have lost contact through the years but we seem to always find our way back.
