Christine Martin Jacoby

Christine Martin Jacoby, born on December 24, 1928, in Corsicana, Texas, departed this world on March 9, 2026, in Lumberton, Texas. She lived most of her adult life in Port Arthur and was the owner of Medical Arts Clinical Laboratory before retiring to her farm in Warren, Texas.

Christine was best known for her strong personality and sharp wit resulting in a long and storied life. Christine learned self-sufficiency at an early age on an East Texas farm being the tomboy of the family during the Great Depression. She could fix a car, build a house, and grow a garden. She was the valedictorian of New London High School and a graduate of TCU. She had a strong sense of duty to her family and community, and was always willing to help someone in need. While working at her medical lab she took pride in helping people, often making house calls, going the extra mile to ensure her patients had access to the medical testing they required. After retirement, she and her husband, Lindy, raised cattle and tended a garden which provided an overabundance of vegetables that they cheerfully shared with family and friends. People closer to Christine will also remember her for her mischievous nature and love of the outdoors which created many fond memories.

Christine is survived by her daughter, Linda Murphy, and son-in-law, Michael, of Sour Lake; her grandchildren, Megan Murphy and Jacob Murphy of Sour Lake; her sister, Dot Hicks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, AC and Florence Martin; her husband, Lindy Bea Jacoby; and her sisters, Oleta Harvey, Juanita Bryant, and Frances Owens.

Visitation services will be held on March 13, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service from 2:00 PM, both at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, Texas. She will have a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves after her funeral service.
