Chrystene Byrom, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the age of 94 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Born on January 24, 1930, in Mills County, Texas to the late Susie Dunlap Pennington and Rev. L.C. Pennington, Chrystene's life was dedicated to caring for those around her. She touched the lives of many through her talents as a church musician, Sunday school teacher, and nursing home minister.
Chrystene's skills extended beyond the salon; she found joy in gardening and crocheting in her leisure time. Her commitment to her community and nurturing spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
In honor of Chrystene's memory, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., at Twin City Church of God located at 4846 80th St., Port Arthur, Texas. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Chrystene was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Charles T. Byrom; her mother, Susie Dunlap Pennington; father, Rev. L.C. Pennington; step-mother, Velma Barnes Pennington; siblings, Ira Vee Pennington, Clyde G. Pennington, Flora Warnock; and grandson, Jonathon Byrom.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Byrom and wife Betty of Arkansas; Sharon Hubert and husband Jimmy of Woodville, Texas; Nat Byrom and wife Becky of Groves, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Clark, Samuel Byrom, Monica Hubert, Aaron Hubert, Jessica Jones, Melissa Byrom, Regina Byrom; sister, Letha Hammond and husband Hugo of Savannah; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Chrystene's legacy of compassion and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
