A Life Remembered

Obituary

Cinderella "Marie" Cormier, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on October 25, 1945, in Welsh, Louisiana, Marie lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and faith.

Raised on a farm during her childhood, Marie developed the strong work ethic and gracious spirit that would define her character throughout her life. A proud graduate of Fenton High School in Fenton, Louisiana, she distinguished herself as Fenton High School Queen, FHA Officer, and Class Officer. She was actively involved in the FHA Committee and enjoyed playing softball and volleyball, instilling the values of teamwork and leadership early on.

Marie was a devoted parishioner of St. Henry Catholic Church, where her loving and joyful nature endeared her to all who knew her. She was known for her kindness and the rarity of negativity, always choosing to speak well of others and uplift those around her. Her warmth and genuine happiness radiated in her daily interactions, leaving an indelible impression on family, friends, and community members alike.

Her interests and hobbies reflected her keen mind and affectionate personality. Marie loved watching soap operas and game shows, a quiet joy she treasured. She found delight in watching church services on television, demonstrating her enduring faith even from home. Additionally, she was an avid player of Scrabble, word puzzles, and Sudoku, engaging her sharp intellect and love of challenge.

She was often reminiscent of June Cleaver, embodying the essence of a wonderful mother and grandmother. Marie’s strength in character and heartfelt care held her family together through decades of memories and milestones.

Marie is survived by her devoted children: son Jimmy Cormier and his wife Lee Ann of Baytown; daughter Donna Cormier of Bridge City; and son David Cormier and his wife Pamela, also of Bridge City. Her legacy extends to her cherished grandchildren Meagan Cormier, Shauna Cormier, Robert Szymborski and his wife Jen, Kasie Odom, Fallon Trahan and her husband Justin, Raven Childers and her husband Cameron, Drake Cormier, Remi Wofford and her husband Tyrique, Haylee Adaway. She was blessed with great-grandchildren Deno Victor Hernandez, III, Joshua Szymborski, Cayden Odom, Kailey Saunders, Cody Odom, Heaven Lee, Patience Szymborski, Hope Szymborski, Aspen Trahan, and Ezekiel Childers, and a great-great-grandchild, Anthony Queen, Jr.

Marie also leaves behind her loving sisters Verna LeBlanc, Alicia Pickard, Theresa Ashford and her husband Cecil, Brenda Touchet and her husband Russell, and Belinda Guillot and her husband Marcel, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, John and Bertha Credeur; her husband of 61 years, Horace James Cormier, Sr.; sisters Ethel Bergeron and Rose Smalley; and brother Sherman Credeur.
