Clarese Smith Allred

Clarese Smith Allred, 86, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born on December 30, 1928 in Beaumont, Texas to R. D. and Ida Smith. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in the Class of June 1947.Clarese married Thurman Allred on June 8, 1948. She was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church and retired from Unocal in Nederland as an "A" clerk in 1985 after 30 years of service. Clarese enjoyed traveling with her husband, and they have been in 48 of the States and all of the Canadian Provinces. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.D. Smith and Ida Smith, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ike and Versia Allred. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Thurman L. Allred; special daughter, Penny Egbert and her husband Gary; grandchildren, Brian Egbert and wife Jennifer, Jenny Egbert, and Holly Egbert; great-grandchildren, Josh Egbert and Jenny Clarese Bartenfield all of Houston; brother-in-law and his wife, Elwood and Joan Allred and their daughters Jan Terral and Suzan LaFleur all of Baton Rouge, LA; brother-in-law and his wife Ronnie and Erleen Allred of Rayburn Country, and their children, Travis Allred and wife Tracy of Woodville, TX and Krista Smith and husband Ronnie of Richmond, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Travis Cox and Reverend Buddy Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to: Friendship Baptist Church or charity of choice.
