Clarice Yvone Dowden, 88, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

She was born in Many, Louisiana on February 16, 1933 to Julian Briggs and Clara Norsworthy Briggs.

Clarice lived in Port Arthur for 69 years and was a homemaker.

A visitation for family and friends will Monday evening, September 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Florien Cemetery in Florien, Louisiana.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents Julian and Clara Briggs, husband, Glen Dowden and sister, Juanita Elkins.

She is survived by her son, Glen Dowden of Port Arthur, Texas and two grandchildren, Glenda Dowden Fink and Patrick Dowden.

Glenn, Glenda and family , so very sorry for the loss of your mother and grandmother! I've known Clarice for many years , saw her on a weekly basis for many many years, Clarice was always so happy , with the best personality one could ever have , she always had us laughing and would always be a shining star. She loved Our Lord with all her heart and was such a wonderful Christian . I will sure miss her dearly, but she is dancing in Heaven with all her loved ones with such peace, I have been so blessed to have her in our lives , Rest In Peace my dear friend, love and prayers to all the family, Sharon Roccaforte
