Claudia Mae Barras, 77, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at her residence in Port Arthur with her loving family at her side.
Claudia was born on February 3, 1945, in Port Arthur to Mattie Mae Gould Berry and Clyde Lous Berry. She was a housewife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. Claudia was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland and participated in many church activities. She was the RCIA Director at St. Charles; a member of the Women’s Guild as well as the Red Hat Society. Claudia was an accomplished artist who also loved crafting. Claudia loved her family and church but she also loved dogs and always had one to take care of.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, Reginald Dennis Barras of Port Arthur; daughters, Ericca Mendoza and her husband Andrew of Port Arthur and Amy Peters and her husband Anthony of New Haven, United Kingdom; grandchildren, Olivia Mendoza and her husband Nathan Griffin of Houston, Isaac Mendoza of Port Arthur; Audrey Peters and Elliott Peters of the United Kingdom; sister, Janice Ramirez of Port Arthur; her nieces, Laurie Overall Deiss and Cathi Burgess who were like a daughters to her and sister-in-law, Cynthia Sell of Katy, Texas; numerous great nieces and nephews who were all loved.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, Texas.
