Cody Slone Manning, 44, of Nederland, TX, passed away Sunday August 21, 2016. Cody was born May 18, 1972 in Port Arthur, TX to Gerald Manning and Mevelyn Skinner Manning. He was a graduate of Nederland High School, class of 1990. He was a vintage cars and trucks enthusiast.

He is survived by his daughters, Tori and Kiley Manning of Nederland, TX; mother, Mevelyn Manning of Nederland, TX; brothers, Shawn Manning, of Nederland, TX, Kristopher Manning of Vidor, TX and a host of family and close friends. Cody is preceded in death by his father, his daughter’s mother, Jennifer Manning Alston and nephew, Randall Manning.

There will be a gathering of family and friends Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, TX. A graveside service will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur, TX.

I am deeply saddened to hear about my old friend Cody. We became friends in kindergarten and we had a lot of fun and good times throughout school. He was a very good friend. I remember going over his house after school at a young age shooting bb guns and just having fun. The entire family was always warm and welcoming. I will never forget! I feel like I closed my eyes and we were just kids and now I'm 41 and losing all my childhood friends. I will never forget our summers together where days seemed to last forever.
