Colleen Shaffer Dorsey

Colleen Shaffer Dorsey, 90, of Port Neches, Texas, went home to her Lord and Savior on the afternoon of September 30, 2022, surrounded by family. Colleen was born on July 13, 1932, in Emlenton, Pennsylvania to J. Plummer Shaffer and Ruth (LeVier) Shaffer.

Upon graduating from Emlenton High School in 1949, Colleen moved to the Port Arthur area where she modeled for various retailers, worked at DuPont, and later served as a Cardiopulmonary Therapist at St. Mary’s Hospital. She married the love of her life: her husband of 63 years, Harris Dorsey, Jr. Colleen left her job at St. Mary’s to stay home full-time to care for her family, and later became the Director of Payroll at Spectron. Along with caring for her children and husband, Colleen was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi and was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church of Port Neches. Colleen treasured her family dearly. In her spare time, she could be found hunting with her husband, spending time with her beloved sister, Patricia “Pat” (Shaffer) Griffin, and doting on her four grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by those she loved so well.

Colleen was preceded in death by her siblings, Patricia (Shaffer) Griffin, Duane Shaffer, and Lamont Shaffer, and her husband, Harris.

She is survived by her children Cara (Dorsey) Edmondson and David Dorsey, son-in-law Larry Edmondson, daughter-in-law Carol Doty, four grandchildren - Sean, Taylor, Courtney, and Jacob, one granddaughter-in-law, Maddie, and three great-grandchildren – Cooper, Brooklyn, and Luke.
