Cora DeKerlegand, 94, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away March 24, 2014 in Spring, Texas. She was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on February 7, 1920 to the late John and Bessie Roy Jennings.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Catherine of Siena in Port Arthur on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Father David Placette celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland with a rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert DeKerlegand; her daughter, Judy Savant; her son, John DeKerlegand; 1 sister; and 1 brother. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Fournet of Port Arthur; her sons, Robert DeKerlegand of Spring, Anthony DeKerlegand of Spring, and Alan DeKerlegand of Lafayette, Louisiana; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 4 brother and sisters.
