Coreene L. Merren, 92, of Kountze, Texas passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Coreene was born March 27, 1929 in Grand Cayman to the late Jennie Ebanks Furtado and Algernon Furtado.

Coreene was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Coreene loved sewing; tatting and playing BINGO. She loved her grandchildren dearly and family get togethers.

Coreene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Whitney Merren; two sisters; and three brothers.

Those left to cherish Coreene’s memory are her children, Bobby Merren and his wife, Pam of Kountze, TX; Al Merren and his wife, Robin of New Braunfels, TX; and Kenny Merren and his wife, Susan of Caldwell, TX; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
