Cynthia Richard

Cynthia Richard, 75, a beloved member of the community passed away at her residence surrounded by her family on Monday, March 25, 2024. Cynthia was born in Kaplan, Louisiana, on June 14, 1948, to Mabel Cecile (Adams) Saltzman and Wilman Pierre Saltzman, Sr. She was a faithful woman of God and a devout Christian who lived her life guided by her strong faith and love for others.

Cynthia was a self-employed seamstress who poured her creativity and passion into her craft. Her love for crafting extended beyond sewing to knitting, crocheting, and jewelry making. She found joy in every stitch and creation she made, leaving behind pieces that will forever carry her essence. She loved to walk the beach while praying her morning prayers and watching the sun rise. Cynthia also had a love for music, dancing and collecting sea shells.

Apart from her career, Cynthia was deeply involved in church activities. She dedicated her time to church functions, teaching CCD, and training altar servers. Her commitment to serving the church community showcased her kind and generous spirit.

One of Cynthia's proudest accomplishments was her giving heart. She always extended a helping hand to those in need and embraced the role of a teacher in various aspects of life. She instilled the values of reading, education, and culinary skills in her sons – shaping them into compassionate individuals.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Wilman Saltzman, sister, Tina Marie Saltzman, and brother, Adam Lynn Saltzman.

Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, PJ "Butch" Richard of Nederland; her beloved sons,  Randall Richard and wife Ericka of Bridge City, Texas; Darrell Richard of Nederland, Texas; Russell Richard and wife Charlotte of Groves, Texas; her grandchildren, Kailin Wyble and husband Eric; Rachel Bacon and wife Bailee; Joseph Thibodeaux, Erin Thibodeaux, Ayden Thibodeaux, Alex Richard, and Blake Richard; along with great-grandchildren, Karsin Richard and Everly Wyble. She is also survived by her siblings, Conrad Saltzman, Jeffrey Saltzman; Cecile Dozier and husband Jim; and Wilman Saltzman Jr. and wife Tonya.

A gathering of friends and family will take place Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. Rite of Committal will follow at Memory Garden's Cemetery in Nederland.

Let us remember the beautiful memories she created through her intricate craftsmanship, unwavering faith in God, and endless love for her family. May she rest in peace knowing that she touched the hearts of many with her kindness and creativity.
