Dallbess "Mustard" Landry Jr.

Mustard was a life-long, beloved and well respected resident of the Golden Triangle and he passed away February 8, 2021, at the age of 85. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 10, 1936 to parents Dallbess Landry, Sr. and Edith Hebert Landry. Mustard and his wife of 65 years, Johnnie Marie Landry, raised their family of four children in Groves where he worked for Texaco Refinery as a Senior Technology Specialist and head foreman of P&S for 37 years. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954 and attended Lamar University majoring in accounting. An avid sportsman, Mustard loved duck hunting, fishing, water skiing, golfing and his Labrador Retrievers, and brought much joy to his children and grandchildren in sharing those experiences. He belonged to the Shell Lake Hunting Club and was also was a collector of fine and antique clocks and was a member of the NAWCC. Most of all Mustard loved his wife, Johnnie and was always by her side. They were the perfect, beautiful dance couple and never missed a step.

Mustard was preceeded in death by his parents, Dallbess Landry, Sr. and Edith Hebert Landry, his brothers Joe Landry, John Paul Landry, Robert Landry, and his youngest son, Neal Landry. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Marie Landry of Beaumont, daughter Dallari Landry of San Marcos, and sons Dall Landry III of Cypress and David Landry and Caroline of Tow; Grandchildren, Lacey Landry, Michael Kirchofer, Chase Landry, Kendal Smith and Angela Wright; Great-grandchildren, Kyler Raggio and Karson Kittner; sister, Geraldine Huckabay and husband, Lawrence of Bridge City. Mustard also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Dallbess Landry will be remembered for his strong character, loyalty, sense of humor and love for his family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Due to Coronavirus-19 we request that friends and relatives practice social distancing while attending Mustard’s visitation. All guests are required to wear a face mask before entering Melancon’s Funeral Home.

Johnnie and family....my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of Dal. We worked together for many years at Texaco and I also knew him in school even though he was a year behind me. He was truly a great friend and helped me out a lot.
