Dan M. Harrell

August 14, 1926 — November 5, 2022

Dan Moody Harrell, 96, of Nederland passed away at his home on Friday, November 5, 2022. Dan was born on August 14, 1926 in Newton, Texas to the late Sidney Martin Harrell and Lunie Olivia Kelley Harrell.

After graduating from Newton High School, Dan proudly served his country in the United States Navy and fought during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Dan married Helen Hughes in 1949 and moved to Nederland, Texas. Shortly after moving to Nederland, he went to work for Pure Oil Refinery where he retired in 1986. Dan was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist church, a loving husband and father, and a proud veteran that served our county in a time of need. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Kaye Sanders and her husband, Wade of Nederland; his son, Kenneth Harrell and his wife, Annie of Beaumont; and his grandchildren, Kacie Sanders of Nederland and Jake Sanders of Vidor.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dad’s caregivers, Sandy and Geneva, for the special care they gave to him during his time of illness.

A Graveside Service to honor Dan’s life will be held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
