Daniel R. Brooks

1941 ∼ 2025

Daniel R. Brooks, a cherished father, grandfather, and dedicated professional, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the Village Creek Nursing Home in Lumberton, Texas. He was 83 years old. Born on April 1, 1941, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Daniel lived a life rich in service and commitment.

For an impressive 36 years, Daniel worked as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) #479, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his expertise and work ethic. His hands were not only skilled in crafting electrical connections but also in building bonds within his community. Daniel also proudly served in the Marine Corps, embodying the values of duty, honor, and courage throughout his life.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Autumn Hibbits, and her husband, Thomas, of Montgomery, Texas; and his son, Daniel Patrick Brooks, and his wife, Amanda, of Alice Springs, Australia. Daniel found joy in being a grandfather to Victoria Brooks, Daniel Brooks, Jr., Chase Brooks, Chelsea N. Carlin, Michael Mellema and Zachary Killian and a great-grandfather to Austin Randall, Avery Randall, Ashtin Randall and Mia Carlin who will carry forward his spirit and legacy.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Wanda Brooks; daughter, Debra D. Killian; daughter, Vicki J. Pappas; and his parents, Daniel Pittman Brooks, Jr. and Grace C. Sellars. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Both services will take place at 5601 39th St, Groves, TX 77619.

Daniel R. Brooks' life was a testament to dedication—both to his profession and his family. He will be deeply missed yet lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

Changed my name legally in 70s and upgraded in 80s to Susan Codi Larson because of hatred for our father I loved Danny very much,we lost touch around the time of passing of Wanda and after his brother Douglas M Brooks passed. Danny as he was know earlier was a proud Marine and a good man who loved his family. I tried to find him for a long time but with my own health problems gave up,I am sorry for. Rest in Peace, I'll always love you (we had a difficult childhood) codilarson@yahoo.com

I will always remember Uncle Dan as a fun and loving Uncle, and have many memories of him and my Aunt Wanda. They were very loving and caring, and fun to be with, many great memories growing up with them in our life. He will be missed.

Uncle Dan will be greatly missed by all of us. My favorite memory was when Uncle Dan and Aunt Wanda would come to our house. Oh the stories he told, he would keep us laughing. He had a great since of humor and also was very intelligent. Uncle Dan will always be in our hearts and thoughts. Mike&Dovie Smith
