Daniel William Crowley, 89, of Nederland, Texas passed away December 23, 2020 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
He was born in Holland, New York on March 4, 1931 to Leonard Geer Crowley and Marion Smith Crowley.
Daniel spent his summers on Cranberry Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in Upper State New York.
He joined the National Guard in Fort Drum, New York and served there until he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951. Daniel served on the USS Beatty as a gunner during the Korean Conflict.
Eventually the Navy brought him to Orange, Texas where he was stationed and met his wife, Faye.
They settled down in Nederland where they had their daughter, Dana.
Daniel was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the NRA, member of the Jefferson County Master Gardeners and Nederland Masonic Lodge #1368. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the El Mina Shriners.
He was very involved in his community, volunteering at many festivals including the Nederland Heritage Festival.
Daniel was retired after 42 years of service from DuPont SRW where he specialized in instrumentation training. He also taught at LIT for 16 years where he was able to share his expertise and love for his profession.
Daniel's greatest joy was his time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday evening, December 30, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.
A Military Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Liberty Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 64 years, Faye Crowley of Nederland, TX, daughter, Dana Gray of Nederland, TX, sister, Janice Weitz of Chautauqua, NY, sister in laws, Brenda Tamplin of Lumberton, TX, and Mary Finch of Lumberton, TX, grandchildren, Danielle Tiller and husband Roy of Nederland, TX, Zachary Smith of Nederland, TX, Caroline Cosio and husband Jake of McKinney, TX, and William Gray of Nederland, TX, and two great grandchildren, Aubrey Tiller and Oliver Tiller.
