Danny Damin Wright, 68, of Groves passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Danny was born May 28, 1951 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Jack and Imay Wright. He was a 1969 graduate of Nederland High School and served in the United States Army. Danny was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and had a love for music. He enjoyed fishing and crossword puzzles. Danny had a soft spot for the neighborhood cats and was a fan of good movies.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Damin Wright and Imay Lucille Choate Wright; Sister, Teresa Ruth Wright; father-in-law, James W. Guillory and his beloved fur baby, Luke.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Gail G. Wright of Groves, TX; daughter, Alicia Gail Wright Jinkerson and her husband, Jason of Nederland, TX; grandchildren, Abigail Lynn Jinkerson and Archer Damin Jinkerson; nephew, Shawn Michael Applegate; mother-in-law, Betty J. Guillory; sister-in-law, Linda Guillory and fur babies, Bo and Kitty.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Funeral Service for Mr. Wright will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2020, at Melancon’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Gail, Alicia and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Danny and I worked together for Jacobs. He's was the closest friend I had there. Today I thought about him, and we'll, I learned he'd gone home. It's like being socked in the gut, I'm hurt, not as much as you though. I'm sending you love, and hugs. He got me doing crossword puzzles, and I learned alot from him. I have great memories from our plant days, we'd laugh so much! Miss you buddy!

Danny and my late brother Mike Hodges were great friends in high school, and so I knew Danny, too. As Mike was in his final illness, he mentioned Danny often, regretting that they had drifted apart. My prayers for all who loved Danny, and he will be much on my mind, too.
