Darlene “Granny” Stewart, 69, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away January 20, 2014 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Ervine and Bernice Roberts Deslatte on November 6, 1944. She was retired from J. C. Penney’s where she was a supervisor and a bookkeeper for Max Bowl.
Funeral services will be at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., with Msgr. Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Bridge City. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the funeral home.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roger Griffin Stewart. She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Williams and husband, Derek of Groves and Michelle Powell and husband, Steve of Groves; grandchildren, Branden Powell, Samantha Williams, Kaylee Powell, and Griffin Williams; and brothers, Rickey Deslatte and wife, Sharon of Port Arthur and Larry Deslatte and wife, Mary of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
