Darrell G. Reese, 80, of Port Neches, Texas passed away October 8, 2017 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas surrounded by his family. Darrell was born on March 7, 1937 in Caldwell Texas. He was a 1955 Graduate of Port Neches Groves High School, where he was a pitcher and centerfielder for the PNG baseball team. Darrell served 8 years in the U.S. Army reserves CBR. He spent his career in the petrochemical industry, with 6 years at Texaco, and then 37 years at DuPont Beaumont Works, in Computer Services as well as several other areas, before retiring from DuPont. He married the love of his life, Rose, on June 21, 1959. They met as teenagers and shared 58 wonderful years of marriage together. Darrell and Rose loved to travel and spend time at their beach cabin in Crystal Beach. Darrell was an amazing, loving, and supportive father to his three children, Darrett, Drek, and Danika. Darrell served as a Boy Scout leader, coached sports teams, and helped and supported them in all of their activities. The family made many lasting memories together on their Summer vacations, travelling to all 48 contiguous states by car. Darrell was also an avid golfer and loved the Dallas Cowboys. Darrell was known for his dry-wit sense of humor and his honest wisdom. Always very mechanically-inclined, friends and family knew there was simply nothing he couldnt fix. Darrell was often described as smart, kind, strong, loving, funny , and handsome. Above all, Darrell was a loyal protector, who would do anything for his family and friends. The world has lost a truly wonderful man. Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph David Reese and Cora Lee Reese; and his brothers, Bobby, Carlton and Brook. He is survived by his wife, Rose Reese; his brother, M.L. Reese; his sister Maureen Albers; his three children, Darrett Reese and his wife Kim; Drek Reese; and Danika Reese Taylor and her husband Chris; his grandkids Lindsey Reese, Dawson Taylor, Kaylen Taylor, Angie Belaire, Michelle McClevely; and his great grandkids Tucker, Dexter, Ashtyn, Camryn, and Hudsyn A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Levingston Funeral Home, 2001 Nall St., Port Neches, TX 77651.
