Darrell G. Reese

1937 ∼ 2017

Darrell G. Reese, 80, of Port Neches, Texas passed away October 8, 2017 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas surrounded by his family. Darrell was born on March 7, 1937 in Caldwell Texas. He was a 1955 Graduate of Port Neches Groves High School, where he was a pitcher and centerfielder for the PNG baseball team. Darrell served 8 years in the U.S. Army reserves CBR. He spent his career in the petrochemical industry, with 6 years at Texaco, and then 37 years at DuPont Beaumont Works, in Computer Services as well as several other areas, before retiring from DuPont. He married the love of his life, Rose, on June 21, 1959. They met as teenagers and shared 58 wonderful years of marriage together. Darrell and Rose loved to travel and spend time at their beach cabin in Crystal Beach. Darrell was an amazing, loving, and supportive father to his three children, Darrett, Drek, and Danika. Darrell served as a Boy Scout leader, coached sports teams, and helped and supported them in all of their activities. The family made many lasting memories together on their Summer vacations, travelling to all 48 contiguous states by car. Darrell was also an avid golfer and loved the Dallas Cowboys. Darrell was known for his dry-wit sense of humor and his honest wisdom. Always very mechanically-inclined, friends and family knew there was simply nothing he couldnt fix. Darrell was often described as smart, kind, strong, loving, funny , and handsome. Above all, Darrell was a loyal protector, who would do anything for his family and friends. The world has lost a truly wonderful man. Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph David Reese and Cora Lee Reese; and his brothers, Bobby, Carlton and Brook. He is survived by his wife, Rose Reese; his brother, M.L. Reese; his sister Maureen Albers; his three children, Darrett Reese and his wife Kim; Drek Reese; and Danika Reese Taylor and her husband Chris; his grandkids Lindsey Reese, Dawson Taylor, Kaylen Taylor, Angie Belaire, Michelle McClevely; and his great grandkids Tucker, Dexter, Ashtyn, Camryn, and Hudsyn A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Levingston Funeral Home, 2001 Nall St., Port Neches, TX 77651. Well, Rose, who would have thought that these two fine men, John and Darrell, who were born on the same day would leave us just one day apart. They had so much in common, such as always putting their families first, their love of travel, their beach homes, and the game of golf. They were wonderful husbands and good Methodist boys. I don't guess we could have asked for anything more except a little more time with them. You and I will just have to hold our memories in our hearts. We know we will see them again one day. We can find comfort in that, dear friend.

Rose, Morris and I are so very sorry to hear of Darrell's passing. We thought of him as a very good friend. I can't help but remember the last time we visited in Dr. Patel's office as we both waited for our appointments. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We regret that we cannot make the services, for we surely would love to be there. I know you will be surrounded by family and friends to help you make it through this sad time. We hope to see you at future PNG gatherings.

Please accept my condolences. May you find comfort in the fond memories of your loved family member. The Bible also offers words of comfort during times of bereavement. 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 states "God will comfort us in all our trials."

Darrell Reese: He was a great guy, good friend, and treasure to all that came in contact with him. He was the kind of friend one would get if Amazon carried the world's most complete inventory of FRIENDS. He was GOOD GUY.I had the privilege of attending PN/G with him for a few short years and always we made the promise of "next class reunion we'll go hit some golf balls",it just never happened. Rose you and your family have suffered an tremendous and tragic loss with Darrell's passing but I am positive you all have the strength and faith to go on.My thoughts and sincere condolences along with deepest sympathy for you and the family. He will be missed, but I'm sure he's resting in a better place.
