Darrell and I shared a common bond in that we both married into a wonderful family! One of my funny memories was Christmas 2009. The Goodin siblings were taking a photo and Darrell chimed up "What about a photo of the Outlaws!". Darrell always made an effort to visit family and took a special interest in my boys, Michael and Christopher. Darrell and Paula came to at least one football game each year through high school and college! I especially remember the time they drove from Montgomery to Vicksburg and then the four of us traveled on to Texas for a college game. Good times! David and I were able to visit Darrell a couple of times in the last month and will always cherish that time with him. We were also blessed to meet his kind, loving family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Paula, I love you much and am here for you. Mary

This past summer I had a wonderful visit with Paula and Darrell. Even though Darrell wasn't feeling well he insisted on riding along and giving me a historical tour of Montgomery. At one point we got out of the car and walked to a beautiful spot that looked out over the river. I'll always have that spot in my mind when I think of Darrell smiling as we watched the sunset in the distance. When we returned we had a delicious meal prepared by Darrell's mother, Joyce. Over dinner, one thing stood out to me and that was how many times that Darrell complimented Paula. I loved him for that! Darrell you will be missed by many but I know you are with Jesus and are at peace. Your sister-in-law, Kathy Fay

Although Darrell didn't feel well this past summer he welcomed me in and we had such a nice visit. He just loved history and on that visit he rode along and gave me a guided tour of Montgomery, which I really enjoyed. In every conversation I had with him he always got around to praising Paula and that made me love him even more. I know on the day he died he once again thought of Paula and gave her a gift that I will forever hold dear to my heart. He will be missed. Kathy, Paula's sister

Paula, We will all miss Darrell. We have many wonderful memories but one of my favorites was when you and Darrell took me and Matthew to the air show at the base. Matthew was the center of attention and was so excited to see the airplanes. Another favorite was our Wii game,( with all the kids watching!) Darrell really got into that game! I am so glad we had the opportunity to know him and to love him. We will never forget him. I love you sis! Pam

You acquire a lot of memories over 25 years or so, but more than one single memory, I remember the important things about my brother-in-law Darrell. Most importantly, his mind was on his Lord when his time here was ending. What greater gift to your loved ones than the security that they will see you again! Also, he loved his wife (my sis) so much. We don't always see the love another couple shares, but we saw his great love for her in his last days here. He always showed an interest in my sons, always asking about them, knowing their football stats when they played football. I know there was a lot of good in my brother-in-law by the love his Mom, brother, and Texas family showed to him in his last weeks. I know he loved them too! Similarly, he had some great friends. His Pastor, Brother Eric, (previous pastors too), the church family, and his neighbors were something he mentioned and took delight in over the years. Darrell and I fussed, laughed, debated, and just generally enjoyed being around each other over the years, sharing many great family times together. That guy sure knew a lot about history! I know this, I sure will miss him. David C. Goodin
