I didn't know who to call. Joyce always kept me clued in to everything with yalls family. When he crossed over there were a lot of people there to greet him. It wont be long till we all see our loved ones soon. Just hold on to Jesus. He will get you thru. I lost Shelley a year and a half ago and HE has always been there for me as he will for you. On behalf of my siblings, I express the most sincere condolences to Darren's Family . We were privileged with being neighbors to the Goodwins in the sixties and watching Darren and Karen grow. A few years back, Darren and I became FB friends. Always enjoyed seeing his posts, personal, political and professional. In May of 2011, Darren met with my brother Byron and me for a short visit at the Schooner. We had a great time of reflecting on the childhood experiences of eleventh street and he shared with us about his mobile auto service business. The single character revelation of Darren was his unconditional love and admiration for family and friends. He even honored the two of us as well as our youngest brother, Kelton, with a reference as "older brothers", reflecting on those times, even after forty years of virtually no contact. I have spoken with two different individuals, not acquainted with each other, and they shared how much love and respect they have for Darren and his family. One can only receive from life what one puts into their life. Truly, this Man must have exercised the "fruits of the Spirit"; "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control" toward others.

Our hearts are sad for the loss of your precious Darren!!!! You are all in our thoughts and our prayers!!! Our sincere condolences to the entire family and a BIG hug to Billy, Barbara and Rhonda!!! A couple of years ago mid January, Gavino was having a very delicate and difficult surgery performed in his neck. I recall several of us stayed closed to the waiting area waiting for the Dr. to come out with information concerning him. The evening came and we were still waiting, when Darren walked in with a big box of fried chicken. This was a very difficult time for us and Darren’s kind and thoughtful gesture made a difference to me not because of the food but because he showed kindness and compassion in our time of deep concern. Darren thanks for making a difference in our lives, I will not tell you goodbye but simply see you later. To Darren’s family, in times like this it is extremely difficult to know what to say or what to do that will bring comfort to the people that just lost a loved one. However, I know the one who can. My memory is how cute he always looked in his little bow tie every Sunday from church, when maw maw always cooked a big Sunday dinner. Big get together every sunday.
