Darren C. Miles

September 20, 1975 — July 19, 2023

Our beloved Darren Coy Miles passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 in Houston, Texas.
Darren was born to Kenneth and Carolyn Miles on September 20, 1975 in Nederland, Texas.
Darren graduated from Nederland High School in 1994 and then proceeded to the University of Texas in Austin where he earned his Master’s Degree in Professional Accounting. Throughout his years, Darren worked in Public Accounting and in the private sector in the International Tax discipline. His work in International Tax provided him the opportunity to travel the world and make wonderful acquaintances and friends with everyone he had the pleasure to meet.
For everyone that knew and loved Darren, they will always remember him as being the “life of the party”. He always had an amusing (and sometimes embarrassing) anecdote about something that had recently happened to him. He was intelligent, witty, had a gift of gab and was loved by all that knew him. He loved his Texas Longhorns, golfing, and spending time with his friends and hanging out at the beach. His loss will always remain a huge hole in our hearts and he will be remembered and loved by all of us for the rest of our lives.
Darren was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Ethel Smallwood, and Lou and Coy Miles.
He is survived by his daughter, Madison Miles, mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Al Whaley, father, Ken Miles, brother Danny Whaley and wife Marcella, sisters Jill Braud and husband Jimmy, Cathy Hagner and husband Matt, Charlotte Barnett and husband Rick, former wife of 21 years Meredith Miles and his many special friends, including Ben Barlow, Kirby Jones and Jennifer Rohr, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will always remember “Uncle D”.
A visitation will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Tx on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 10 am until 12 Noon. A Celebration of Life will then follow at 12 Noon. The family request your prayers in helping them get through this tragic loss.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Darren’s memory to The Humane Society of South East Texas.
