David Leo Bertrand, Jr., 91, of Groves, Texas passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Jennings, Louisiana on December 12, 1929 to David Leo Bertrand, Sr. and Clara Chiasson Bertrand.
David was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. He studied engineering at Texas A&M University before returning to Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont to complete his engineering design degree.
He was employed as a laboratory analyst with Jefferson Chemical Company for twenty one years and concluded the remainder of his career as an engineer designer for Valvonic, Inc. at DuPont.
David was a member of First Christian Church of Mid County and was a Master Mason of Cosmopolitan Lodge #872 in Port Arthur for 65 years.
His favorite past times were hunting, fishing and writing articles for the "Outdoors" for the Port Arthur News.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2021 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Drew McClellan of First Christian Church Mid County officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
David is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, David L. Bertrand, III and Jeffery Craig Bertrand, granddaughter, Melissa Marie Fuselier Wilcox, and grandsons, Jacob Craig Bertrand and Jeremy Cayne Bertrand.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Polly Ann Bertrand of Groves, Texas, daughter, Deborah Louise Fuselier of Groves, Texas, grandsons, Darek Lane Fuselier and Dylan Kirk Bertrand, great grandchildren, Sean, Joseph, Alec, Michael, Tristin, Brooke, David Abram, Urban, Elin, Imogen and Aulden, step children, Elizabeth Chesson and John Thomas, sister, Joan Kemble of Houston, Texas and her family.
