David Paul Burris, 86 of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Oak Grove Nursing Home. Paul was born December 22, 1928 in Mexia, Texas to Carl S. Burris and Margaret Rebecca Bailey Burris. He was a resident of Groves for 60 years and member of West Groves Church of Christ. David retired from Star Enterprise (Texaco) as an operator and was also a former member of Sons of The American Revolution. Paul loved his Lord, and enjoyed gardening and reading. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Burris, two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Guidry and her husband Billy of Nederland; son, David Burris of Nederland; grandchildren, Tammy Rhodes and husband Cayce of Nederland, Jill Davalos and husband Aaron of Nederland; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith, Caleb Rhodes, Tanner Rhodes, and soon to be Melody Rhodes. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Mr. H. L. Collett officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
