David Capps Sr. of Elk Grove, California passed away peacefully April 23, 2019 at the Windsor Elk Grove Care and Rehab Center in Elk Grove, California surrounded by his loving wife, and several members of his church family.

David was born October 11, 1940 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Verlie Bert Capps and Verna Louise Bond of Buna, Texas.

David grew up in Nederland, Texas where he met and married his wife of 52 years, DeMorris “Debbie” Ann Lett Capps.

He is survived by his wife, DeMorris “Debbie” Capps; his 4 children, Millisa and her son, James and 2 granddaughters, Pam and her daughter, Brandi and her son, Donnie and 2 grandchildren, David Jr. and his wife, Kim and their son, Joey and daughters, Toni and Taylor, and a grandson, and Kevin and his sons, Nicolas, Jake, and Josh.

David was an avid outdoors man and never met a fish he didn’t want to catch. In his earlier days Toledo Bend Reservoir and Lake Sam Rayburn were his favorite places to fish. After moving to the Sacramento area in the early nineties he fished the Sacramento Delta as often as possible.

David was a lifelong active member of the churches he attended both in Texas and his home in Elk Grove. His bright warm smile, gentle nurturing heart, and playful loving attitude will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.

A gathering of the family and friends will be Friday, May 3, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the funeral home with his interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland.
