David Elgar, 77, of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on November 1, 2022, at Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Nederland.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches, Texas with interment to follow at the Mausoleum.
Born in Littleborough, England on January 27, 1945; he was the son of Tom Elgar and Kathleen KenneyElgar. David joined the Royal Navy at age 18 where he proudly served for 16 years. During his time in the Navy, he visited fifty-five countries and he developed a passion for traveling the world. This love of travel led to a truck driving career which spanned across Europe before moving to the United States, settling in Texas and marrying the love of his life in 1994. David was proud to become an American citizen in 2019 and visited 49 of the 50 states. He was a Port Neches, Texas resident for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Bernice Elgar of Port Neches, Texas; sister, Patricia Kirkham and husband, Granville, of Rochdale, England; stepson, Richard Miller and wife Jane of Albert Lea Minnesota; step daughter, Dena Lambert and husband Sidney of Port Neches, Texas; step son, Dennis Miller and wife Debbie of Manchester, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Ken Thornell; Jeni Peterson and husband Joe; Nick Thornell; Charles Miller; and Ray Miller; great-grandchildren, Brendan Thornell; Ava Thornell; and Teresa Warren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Thornell.
