David Lamar Hooks, 91, of Nederland, Texas passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves. He was born on August 3, 1923 in Roganville, Texas to the late James Lee Hooks and Vivian Jones Hooks. He retired from Union Oil as a Process Operator and served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII.
David is survived by his daughter, Linda McGee and her husband, John of Nederland; sons, Ronnie Hooks of Livingston and Jimmie Hooks of Nederland; grandchildren, Candace Gussman and her husband, Chris, Troy Kelley, Chase McGee, Laurie Bourque, John McGee, Jr., Brandon Hooks, Kristi Hooks, Dalton Hooks, Tobey Hooks and his wife, Marty, and Tyler Hooks; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel Hooks; grandsons, David Kelley and Daniel Hooks; sister, Margie Williford; and brother, Wayne Hooks.
Graveside services will be on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Magnolia Hills Cemetery in Segno, TX with Rev. Dr. Jason Burden officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
