I carried DP's smiling face all over the world, as that is how I remember him. We went to middle school together and played sports with one another until I moved away at the beginning of our sophomore year. I recall how he liked to wear those white T-shirts and would roll the sleeves up. After I retired and moved to Belton, Texas, I found myself thinking about my younger life in Groves. About the good ole boys of which DP was one and the crazy things we use to do. I recall one time after a big rain we all went to the football field and played ball in the mud. It was so good to breath the pure air of youthfulness. One time when we had a rare snow fall, DP and all the crazy members of our bunch went to the junior high and had a huge snowball fight. Gail was always his sweetheart, when he saw her coming he would get that big friendly smile and we all knew he was done for, when she came along his world went with her. Gail, he was a fine man and long time friend even though years went by without seeing one another. I miss him in my heart.

Loosing a former classmate is loosing a family member. D. P. was a top class person. He was friendly with everyone, no matter who or what they were. My sincere condolences to Gayle, his wife, and their children and grandchildren. Also to Gayle, his sister and all of their family. I am so sorry for the loss but, knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior and our Father in Heaven, and, he is not not suffering anymore.
