David Charles Munselle, age 77, of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his residence, with his loving wife by his side. David was born on January 25, 1948, in Woodville, Texas, and he dedicated much of his life to both his family and his career.
For 43 years, David served honorably with Kansas City Southern Railway. In addition to his railway career, David found fulfillment in working on side projects such as mowing yards and putting up lights during the Christmas holidays. He even took on construction work for homes, showcasing his hard work and dedication throughout his life.
A proud veteran, David served in the United States Army from August 1967 to August 1970, where he earned both a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. His work ethic and commitment to service were evident in all aspects of his life.
David had a vibrant personality and was known for being a workaholic who enjoyed keeping busy. He never met a stranger and was always willing to engage in conversation with anyone he encountered. His Chevrolet pickup truck was a particular point of pride and joy, serving as a symbol of his cherished pursuits.
Among his many passions, David found great joy in building birdhouses and was a devoted collector of trains and railroad memorabilia. He appreciated the simple pleasures of watching western shows and delving into western novels, finding comfort in these interests throughout his life.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Beverly Munselle, and his children, David J. Munselle and his wife, Nova, Phillip Munselle, his stepson, Randy Schofield, granddaughter, Avonna Rose Munselle and step grandchildren, Justin and Tyler. He is also survived by his brothers, Earl Munselle, Arthur Brodnax, and Charlie Munselle, along with his sisters, Barbara Carlin, Pat LeBlanc, Sharon Shackelford, Ginger Crump, and Sharon Lopez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Barbara Munselle, his sisters, Bessie Munselle and Cathy Munselle, his brother, Michael Munselle, and his step-grandson, Chance Schofield.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on April 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life to begin at 11:00 AM both taking place at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627. David will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
David Charles Munselle's legacy of hard work, kindness, and warmth will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
