Deacon Broussard, 82, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at his residence. Dallas was born in Abbeville, Louisiana on April 12, 1940 to the late, Florence Stansbury Broussard and Warren Broussard. When Dallas was one year old, he and his parents moved to Port Arthur, Texas. He attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958. He then attended Port Arthur College before serving six months in the Army and eight years in the National Guard. While attending school, he worked at KU Davis and Roy Tiller’s Grocery Stores. Dallas went on to work for DuPont in the Instrument and Electrical Department and retired with 35 years of service. During that time, he married the mother of his children and had two sons, Greg Broussard and Brian Broussard.
In 1971, Dallas met and married his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn Grossman Broussard. Carolyn had three children, Melissa Warren Mann, Monica Warren Ewing and Gary Deese. In 1992, he was ordained as Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Beaumont Catholic Church. During his ministry, he served at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland for twenty three years. He and Carolyn worked in prison ministry for fourteen years, participated in “Starting Over in Christ Ministry” and taught Catholic Confirmation Classes for ten years. He spent many hours visiting the sick and homebound, was a member of St. Vincent De Paul for many years and was active in the RCIA program for several years. He also served on the Board of Appeals for the City of Nederland for fifteen years and was the Board Chairman for twelve years.
His hobbies included spending time on the water fishing and shrimping. When the children were young he enjoyed going to the beach and riding trail bikes at Boykin Springs. He loved camping at Inks Lake, Lake Sam Rayburn and at Wild Wood. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling. He and Carolyn went on many pilgrimages together to various parts of the world. They traveled to Medjugorje, Yugoslavia, Italy, France, The Holy Land, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Greece and Canada. The also went on several cruises together and traveled to many states, including Hawaii.
Those left to cherish Dallas’ memory include his loving wife of 51 years Carolyn Grossman Broussard; sons, Greg Broussard, Brian Broussard and his wife, Stefney; step-daughters, Melissa Mann and Monica Ewing and her husband, David; step-son, Gary Deese and his wife, Rebecca; Eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas on Thursday evening, October 27, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning, October 28, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, Bishop David Toups, Celebrant with Father John Hughes, Concelebrant and Father Shane Baxter, Homilist. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
