Deborah Ann Barker Fournerat

1951 ∼ 2022

Deborah Ann Barker “Momo” Fournerat, 70, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Memorial Herman Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas with her loving family at her side.

Deborah was born on September 15, 1951, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Rita Laura Belaire Barker and Harry Kelly Barker. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Beaumont and was a retired librarian/teacher for total of 50 years at Calcasieu Parish, Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Texas Youth Commission. She loved her kindergarten students as much as she loved helping inmates get a better education. Deborah loved all of her students and many of them even saying that “she always treated everyone with Dignity and Respect”. Being a librarian she loved to read; enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them; she was involved in youth ministries with her husband David and loved making quilts especially with her daughter Megan. Deborah loved everyone and everyone loved her. She wanted to help everyone and asked for nothing in return, she just had a big heart!! Deborah will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Deborah is survived by the love of her life and husband of thirty-five years, David Fournerat, Jr. of Beaumont; daughters, Megan Mistric and her husband Nathan of Nederland and Dr. Melissa Maples and her husband Sebastian Norman of Sweden; grandchildren, Forrest, Maverick, AnnMarie also known as “Annie” and one adopted grandchild on the way from the Ukraine; brother, Kelly Barker and his wife Donna of Lake Charles; father-in-law, David Louis Fournerat, Sr. of Beaumont; numerous brother and sister-in-law’s, nieces and nephews and other family/friends who loved her dearly.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Rita Barker and her brother, Charles Barker.

Deborah was a hard worker with good morals. She loved her family and kept a spotless home. I admired this about her. I was always interested to hear her opinions on many different topics. When Creston was little, David, Debbie, and Megan went to the River Walk with Greg, Creston, and I. We ate at Casa Rio, and had a great time. We always enjoyed seeing and visiting with her. She will be missed.

Dear David & Megan (and all of Debbie's Family), I'm so very sorry for your tremendous loss of such a wonderful person. I always knew Debbie to have a smile on her face and I loved the sound of her laugh so much. She came with us for my Grandma Romero's funeral in Kaplan many many years ago and when my Aunt started reciting the rosary in her ultra-Cajun accent, Debbie started giggling, which made me and my sister, Vicki, start giggling too. We three ended up laughing so hard that we had to pretend like we were crying! HA! Debbie was a complete DOLL! Always full of life. You, and all of us, have lost a very wonderful, fun-loving, caring and beautiful person. God has His Plans and I have no doubt she's in Heaven enjoying His Glory. I made a tribute in Debbie's Honor of having trees planted in her memory somehwere in one of our nation's forests. I felt this was the best way to honor Debbie because of her full-of-life attitude. Many prayers and blessings for you during this most difficult time. Lisa Romero Landry (Deb's 1st Cousin - Aunt Bod, Jane Romero, was my mother and Dee Dee's sister)
