Deborah K. "Debbie" Matt

Deborah K. “Debbie” Matt, 71, of Nederland, Texas passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at UTMB Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Debbie was born on March 2, 1952, in Baytown, Texas to John and Vonda Colley.
Debbie was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lectern and played the bells for the church. Debbie was a gardening enthusiast and an avid dancer with her late husband. Debbie retired after twenty years of service from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, John Bryant Colley and Vonda Elise (Harmon) Colley; her loving husband, J.D. Matt; and a brother, Ronnie Colley.
Those left to cherish Debbie’s memory include her children, Sonya Wagner and her husband, Rodney of Parachute, CO; Becky Bertrand and her husband, Ryan of Nederland, Texas; Ricky Matt and his wife, Susan of Canyon Lake, Texas; Micky Matt and his wife, Regie of Beaumont, Texas; and Nicky Matt and his wife, Lori of Nederland, Texas; grandchildren, Megan, Jerrod, Ross, Chase, Morgan, Lindsay, Logan, Lauren, Caleb, Carly, Samantha Abshire Counts and her husband, Elliott; Coleman, Tyler, Alyssa and Kyler; sisters, Sandra Herman, Gay Thomas and her husband, Derek of Rockdale, Texas.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning, April 13, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. Rite of Committal will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
