1929 ∼ 2023

Della (Hranicky) Landry, 94, of Fannett, passed away on August 12, 2023, in Groves.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Friday, August 18, 2023, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Officiating will be Reverend Scooter Wenner. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00pm, Friday, at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on March 2, 1929, she was the daughter of William H. Hranicky, Sr. and Bertha M. Britten. Her family moved to Port Acres when she was one year old. She attended SFA Elementary through High School before marrying Ray on October 27, 1946. They built a home on Jade Avenue, (known then as Avenue B), where they raised their three children and attended First Baptist Church Port Acres.

In 1973 they moved to Fannett. Ray said he built the house on Jade Avenue and was taking it with him so they did Just that as friends and family watched the house travel down Jade Avenue to Craigen Road, Fannett, where they established community ties and became active members of First Baptist Church of Fannett.

Several years later Ray retired at which time he and Della bought an RV and traveled to their hearts content.

One of their most memorable trips for them was to Alaska where they were on the road for several months where they met fellow travelers who became cherished friends.

Della crocheted with a passion which included inviting friends to her home to create a "crochet group" which at one time consisted of about 12 ladies. There could surely not be an immediate family member who does not or has not owned some of her crocheted creations including blankets, throws, caps, crocheted names, socks, etc.

After Ray’s passing in 2008, Della remained in their home in Fannett until December 2019 before moving into Port Arthur to an assisted living facility then finally to "Forever Young" (a private facility/home) where she truly loved the people and the one-on-one attention she received.

The family would like to sincerely thank Penny Lee (owner) and the dedicated staff of Forever Young for the genuine care given to Della during the time of her residing there and also to Tasha Broom, Hospice Plus Nurse, for her dedication and constant attentiveness.

She is preceded in death by husband, Ray J. Landry; son, Charles R. Landry; brothers, Clyde Hranicky, Marvin Hranicky, Frank Hranicky, William H. Hranicky, Jr. (Boots); sisters, Nola F. McFarland, and Dorothy R. McFarland.

She is survived by daughter, Janice L. Stewart; son, Kernice D. Landry and wife Vicki (Williams) of Port Acres

grandchildren, Deanna (Landry) Garcia and husband Damon, Kellie (Landry) Hebert and husband Corey, Ken Stewart and wife Becki (Franklin), Jill (Stewart) Sandberg and husband Stephen, Darren Landry and Ms. Harley Griffin; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Perryman G. McFarland; sister-in-law, Eva J. Hranicky (Clyde), Ruby L. Hranicky (W.H.Hranicky,Jr.); along with a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Forever Young Home at 2631 Rose Avenue, Groves, Texas or First Baptist Church of Fannett at 17019 TX-124, Beaumont, Texas.

Della and Ray were our neighbors on Jade Ave. I remember one time I wanted my ears pierced so I went to Della’s house and they did my first ear with ice and a needle. It hurt so bad I left with just one ear done. Della followed me home and convinced me to do the other ear. She was a great neighbor and leader in church. Sincere condolences to Janice and Kernice Love Melody Hawthorne Chronister
