Delwood John Fontenot, 71, of Nederland, Texas passed away December 10, 2018. He was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on July 20, 1947 to the late John and Pauline Vidrine Fontenot. He was a cement finisher for Lynch Construction. Delwood served his county proudly in the U. S. Army, a proud member of the Cajun Music Association, and a member of the Nederland Coffee Club.
Those left to cherish Delwood’s memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Peggy Lynch Fontenot of Nederland; his son, Troy Fontenot and his wife, Paula of Port Neches; his brother, David Fontenot and his wife, Charlotte of Nederland; his sister, Mary Nixon of Nederland; his daughter-in-law, Loretta Hardy; and his grandchildren, Hunter Craigen, Shelby Fontenot, and Clayton Primeaux. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sons, Steve Fontenot and Brian Fontenot.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 5:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow the rosary at 6:00 p.m. with Father John Hughes, officiant.
